Solon Halloween 2026: Trick-or-Treat Hours, the Trick-or-Treat Trail and a Trunk-or-Treat
Our office sits on Solon Road, and every October we get the same question from clients, neighbors and agents on our team: when is trick-or-treat this year, and what else is going on in town? So we pulled it together in one place.
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which makes for a busy and fun stretch leading up to it. Here's what to put on the calendar.
Solon trick-or-treat hours for 2026
The City of Solon's official trick-or-treat is Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the city's Halloween announcement.
One thing worth clearing up: some statewide lists show Solon on October 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. That's the city's Trick-or-Treat Trail, a separate event (more on that below). Door-to-door trick-or-treating in the neighborhoods is October 31, 6 to 8 p.m.
The usual rule applies. If your porch light is on, kids will assume you're handing out candy. If you're not participating, keep it off.
The City of Solon Trick-or-Treat Trail (Saturday, Oct. 24)
This is the one I'd circle first if you have little ones. The city's Trick-or-Treat Trail is set for Saturday, October 24, from 4 to 6 p.m., according to Spectrum News. Kids stroll the Portz Parkway Path, near the Solon Community Center, while local businesses and community organizations line the trail handing out treats.
The city describes it as a free, family-friendly event, and costumes are encouraged. For toddlers and younger kids who aren't ready for a full night of door-to-door, it's a great warm-up a week early. For parents, it means daylight, a paved path and no cars. Check the city's page or its Facebook event before you head over in case weather changes anything.
Advent Lutheran's Fall Fest and Trunk-or-Treat (Saturday, Oct. 24)
If you want to make a full evening of that Saturday, Advent Lutheran Church at 5525 Harper Road is holding its Fall Fest and Trunk-or-Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 24. That lines up nicely right after the Trick-or-Treat Trail wraps up.
The church lists trunk-or-treating, carnival games, a bounce house, balloon twisting and food. If you've never been to a trunk-or-treat, it works the way it sounds: people decorate the backs of their cars, park in a row, and kids go car to car for candy. It's one of the easiest ways to get a lot of trick-or-treating done in a small, well-lit space.

Trick-or-treat in nearby towns
If you have family in a neighboring community or you're heading somewhere else on Halloween night, here are the hours from Ideastream's Northeast Ohio list:
- Twinsburg, Hudson, Aurora, Chagrin Falls, Bedford, Glenwillow, Pepper Pike and Macedonia: Saturday, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m.
- Streetsboro: Saturday, Oct. 31, 5 to 7 p.m.
Hudson also has a downtown merchants' trick-or-treat and a free Halloween organ event this year. We've put those in a separate Hudson post.
A few tips for Halloween night
Halloween is one of the nights you really see what a neighborhood is like. A few things that make it go smoothly:
- Drivers, slow way down from 6 to 8 p.m. A lot of Solon neighborhoods have curving streets and cul-de-sacs, and kids in dark costumes will dart across without looking. Lights on, phone down.
- Light up your walkway, not just the porch. Clear leaves, hoses and pumpkins off the steps, and keep candle jack-o'-lanterns away from where costumes brush by.
- Keep pets inside. Even the friendliest dog gets stressed after the doorbell rings for the fortieth time.
- Little kids go with an adult, and older kids carry a flashlight. Stick to houses with the light on and don't go inside anyone's home.
- Check the candy at home. Toss anything unwrapped or homemade from someone you don't know.
Selling your home in October? A quick word on decorations
This is where I put my Realtor hat back on, because we get asked about it every fall. If your house is listed or about to be, it's completely fine to decorate. A few pumpkins and mums on the front steps photograph well and make a house feel lived in.
Where sellers get into trouble is going big. Giant inflatables, fake tombstones across the lawn and spiderwebs over the shrubs can hide the yard and the front of the house, which is exactly what buyers are trying to see. My advice: keep it seasonal, not spooky, before listing photos and during the weeks you're showing. And if you have a showing on Halloween night, let us know so we can plan around the doorbell traffic.
