If you've met Rual Moncrieffe, you probably remember him. Some people know him as "Realtor Reggae Rual." He's been licensed for 14 years, and his reason for doing this work hasn't changed: helping people achieve their American dream of owning a home.

From Kingston, Jamaica to Cleveland

Rual grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, and now lives in Cleveland. He understands what it means to build a life in a new place, and what owning a home means as part of that. It's a big reason he does what he does.

A career built on service

Before real estate, Rual was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Anyone who's done that job knows what it takes: showing up every day, in every kind of weather, and taking care of the people on your route. That work ethic carried straight into real estate.

Rual decided to get into real estate to help others achieve their dream of homeownership, and 14 years later, that's still the heart of it.

Why he joined the Mike Team

When we asked Rual what drew him to the Mike Team, he gave two words: education and help. Real estate changes constantly, and even with 14 years in the business, Rual values the training and support that come with being part of a team.

What surprised him? How hard the job is. After 14 years, he'd know. That kind of honesty is part of why clients trust him.

Who he works with

Rual works with both buyers and sellers, and he loves doing both. His focus is simple: helping people. His favorite part of the job is the end result, seeing a client reach the goal they started with.

He describes his approach this way: be a helper, so clients reach their goal of becoming homeowners and are happy at the end. One recent client didn't know exactly what they wanted when they started. Rual worked with them until they found and bought a home, and they were happy in the end. That's what patience and listening look like in this business.

His motto

Rual's favorite saying is a Jamaican proverb: "If yu want good, yu nose affi run." It means that if you want good things, you have to be willing to work hard and push through the tough parts to get them. It's a good description of buying a home, too, and it's how Rual approaches every client's search.

Outside of work

Rual is married and has three sons, two stepsons and one son of his own. His big passion outside of work is walking. He walks about eight miles in the park every day. He's a football fan, and when we asked about his favorite restaurant, he said "any," which tells you he's easy to please.

A fun fact? "I love people." If he weren't in real estate, he joked that he'd be sleeping. Given eight miles a day, he's earned it.
